Fund-raiser for ill child coming up

2016-04-21 06:00

THE community of Port Shepstone has rallied with local parents, Jason and Charmaine Govender, to raise funds for surgery which their three-year-old son, Keshivan, is in need of.

The next fund-raiser will be a run-walk which the Mbango Conservancy will host on Wednesday 27 April.

A car show was held recently which raised R40 000.

Keshivan was diagnosed with Spastic cerebral palsy soon after birth and needs urgent medical treatment to improve his condition.

This procedure involves stem cell treatment at the Shenzhein Beike Biotechnology Co. Ltd associated hospitals in Thailand. This will enable him to walk and improve other sensory functions.

The exciting 10km or five-kilometre circular trail runs through the Umzimkulu River into the indigenous forest, hills and gorges of Band Farm.

Registration takes place at 7am and the event begins at 8am at the Illovo Sugar Mill soccer ground in Oscar Borchers Road. Entrance is R50, and includes lucky draw prizes.

“We believe that with your assistance, generosity and support Jason and Charmaine Govender’s

hopes for Keshivan to at least walk and lead a normal life will be achieved,” said Morgan Naidoo, event organiser.

The first 200 entrants will receive medals and there will be a food stall. Contact Raj on 083 555 5021, Morgan on 076 238 9826 or Jaya on 084 583 6010 for more details.
