GAMALAKHE Community Health Centre held an awareness day on 2 December in the fight against women and child abuse.

The day was held in Gcilima community hall and male staff from Gamalakhe CHC and other clinics, the community and SAPS members joined in a walk against the rampant abuse.

CHC spokesperson Lifa Radebe said in a statement that SAPS spokesperson Captain General Mfeka and Sergeant Nomonde Moni, who deals with social crime prevention at Margate SAPS stated that at the moment they deal with many cases mostly related to women and children abuse, especially rape and assault.

The 16 Days of Activism against Women and Children Abuse campaign is worldwide and opposes violence against women and children, raises awareness about the negative impact violence and abuse has on women and children and rids society of abuse permanently.

“Real men don’t rape, let’s protect our teenagers from blessers, don’t become a victim and break the cycle of violence,” said Radebe. - Supplied.
