A BELATED congratulations to our members who braved the extreme heat at Pinetown to participate in the Durban and districts show on 7 February.
Well done Gaby and Kylie with their two first places and a second. Scooby, being her mentor, she will excel. Sheldene Smit and Chloe had two spectacular rounds to achieve two first places, Bernice Smit and Mindy were not far behind with two second and a first.
Ninette Smith did well with her pack - Glitz achieved a second, Sparkle a steady first and third and Swish a first. Swish found all the chicken bones on the field irresistible. Unfortunately, dogs have an amazing sense of smell which can be very frustrating for a handler.

On Saturday 13 February, Hibiscus Kennel Club diverted from the usual obedience and agility training and members dressed in red and participated in tunnel mania, which is always great fun as well as an obstacle course. One course included a bucket of water and a few balls, which most of the dogs were not happy about, so there was much running back and forth of the willing dogs to assist the not so willing dogs (reminder to trainers to include this in their training).

We thank the municipality for keeping our grass short and the field as tidy as possible and appeal to the public who make use of the field for walking their dogs or recreational activities to please take their bottles home with them and to remove their dog litter.

We invite the public to browse our Facebook page (Hibiscus Kennel Club) for photos and events or to ask any questions relating to dog training.

Contact details:

Sharon Derman (chairperson) on 073 601 4622 and Jenny Robertson (training co-ordinator) on 083 250 4253

Training starts at 3pm on Saturday and Hibiscus Kennel Club on the Port Shepstone Borough Field in Quarry Road. - Supplied.
