SAPS members from various angling clubs are competing in the provincial Rock and Surf Championships this week.

The event kicked off on Monday and is hosted by the Umzimkhulu SAPS Rock and Surf Angling Club.

The championship will end on 6 November.

“The SAPS anglers will be seen on the beaches from Port Shepstone to Port Edward,” said police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.

The Umzimkhulu team comprises 22 members who will compete against eight teams.

The other visiting teams are from Vryheid, Durban, Midlands, Pongola, Westville, Jacobs Garage, Durban Central and Verulam.

The cluster commander of Ugu SAPS cluster, Major­-General Thembi Ndlovu wishes all the teams the best of luck.
