DANNY’S House of Curries restaurant is opening a branch this week at Wild Coast Sun. The award-winning Indian cuisine is already famous in Durban and surrounding areas for their one-of-a-kind total food experience.


Having always had a passion for food, and increasingly becoming more interested in the art of food in his later years, Danny Naidoo had for a long time envisioned opening up his own restaurant. His dreams were finally realised when on 4 July, 2008, Danny’s House of Curries was established.

Being a new player in the industry, various challenges and setbacks were expected, however due to having specific strategies in place, the challenges were met with counter-strategies that enabled the restaurant to keep on functioning at an optimum level. One of the early challenges they faced was having a large volume of cooked food left over at the end of a business day, and that’s when the decision to begin a food donation drive began. In this way they guaranteed their customers freshly prepared food each day as well as giving back to the community with the initiative to donate food to the less fortunate.

Fast forward eight years and Danny’s House of Curries is considered a household name in the food industry. The restaurant’s style is refreshing and relaxed, with new and regular customers popping in daily can be assured of a taste of the unmistakably, delicious food that is Danny’s House of Curries.

Setting their sights on bigger and better things, Danny’s House of Curries hopes to become the first local Indian cuisine franchise, and with their recent win for best bunny chow at the 2015 Coca-Cola Bunny Chow Barometer Challenge, and their appearance on Top Billing and Expresso Breakfast Show, there’s no stopping this determined restaurant from reaching for the culinary stars.
