Housebreaker sentenced

SERIAL housebreaker Freedom Nkosingiphile Shabane (24) of Boboyi­ was recently sentenced to 20 years’ imprisonment by the Port Shepstone Regional Court for a number of housebreakings and robberies he committed in the Port Shepstone area between May 2015 and January 2016.

The cases were investigated by Detective Sergeant Morné Jones of Port Shepstone Detective services.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid said with the assistance of Captain Raymond Shusha, information from the public as well as forensic evidence, Shabane­ was arrested.

“Shabane committed at least five house breakings and robberies in the Port Shepstone area.

“He stole a range of household items including cellphones, TVs, a bicycle, laptop and jewellery,” said Wiid.

Wiid said in a house robbery during November 2015 in Seaview road Lionsgrove, he tied up an elderly man and locked him in a cupboard.
