Incorrect bills will be rectified

CUSTOMERS who have received unusually high bills from the Ugu District Municipality can rest assured that the municipality is working on correcting the errors.

The Fever carried a story on 26 January, Flawed bills infuriate residents, where people complained of being charged thousands extra for their water consumption. Some said they would not pay for a service they did not use,

“The municipality is currently experiencing challenges with the billing system which are being addressed,” said spokesperson France Zama.

He said in some months metre readings are estimated which in some instances duplicates the charges hence the bills are high.

“The municipality is however very aware of this fault and is addressing it. Accounts of customers that have been reported to have problems will be closely scrutinised and amended accordingly.”

“This inconvenience is highly regretted and we urge our customers to bear with us while we rectify our system accordingly,” he added.
