SUID-NATAL Karate Academy karateka attended sessions hosted by the Shotokan Karate-do International Federation (SKIF) and World Karate Federation (WKF) world champion Davide Benetello in Durban for a once in a lifetime training opportunity recently.

Benetello is not only a previous world champion, but the current chairman of the WKF Athletes Commission, chairman of the WKF World Ranking Commission and serves on the technical board of the 2020 Olympic Karate Organising committee.

Suid-Natal Martial Arts Academy karateka Tyler Hogan attended.

The International Shorei Martial Arts held their annual black belt grading at the Isma Hombu Dojo in Johannesburg recently where he received his black belt (cadet shodan).

His sensei and Ugu Karate chairman Coenie Vrey was pleased by the achievement.

“Tyler started karate with me at the age of seven and with hard work and dedication, he has reached this outstanding achievement at the age of 14,” said Vrey.
