KWAZULU-NATAL Seniors Tennis Tournament took place over the weekend.

The teams were named after KZN rivers - Umgeni, Umvoti , Umzimkulu and Mpenjati - with each team consisting of six players.

On Saturday all the matches scheduled for the day took place, but the Sunday matches had to be postponed because of the weather.

Club secretary Annette Parrow said although light showers fell on Saturday all matches were completed.

Parrow said with the rain on Sunday being much heavier all matches were cancelled.

Parrow said they are appreciative of the sponsorship they received from Ugu South Coast Tourism, Marik’s, SANBS, Chubb Security, Coca-Cola, Doug’s Hardware, Lucky’s, Manaba, Spar in Uvongo and Manaba.

A date and venue for the next year’s tournament is still to be announced.

Parrow said they are waiting for the seniors committee to find out if Uvongo Tennis Club will host the tournament next year.

In section A, team Mgeni won and team Tugela came second. In section B, team Mzimkhulu won and team Mkomazi came second.
