MAXWELL Mbili has been reappointed the Ray Nkonyeni Municipality Municipal Manager for another term, the municipality confirmed on Tuesday.

Speaking at a media briefing at the municipality, RNM mayor Nomusa Mqwebu said Mbili, who’s current term ends on August 31 accepted a lower salary package for his reappointment and commended him for his hard work and respectable conduct.

“Having been put to the test in terms of the 2014 Cogta Regulations on the appointment of senior managers, Max Mbili became the top candidate,” said Mqwebu.

Mbili said he chose to reapply for the position because he wanted to continue to improve the lives of the community that gave birth to him and not “for the love of money”.

“When I started my tenure in 2013 I developed a plan for my tenure called ‘repositioning the municipality to speed up service delivery’.

“The plan had five key areas of focus namely, discipline, maximising productivity, speeding up service delivery, creating centres of excellence and encouraging healthy competition among departments to enhance performance.

“For the my new tenure I will build on these as a foundation,” said Mbili.

He said he will present the draft for his plans next Monday.

Mbili first joined the municipality in 2012 as the HOD for community services and also serves as the provincial deputy chairperson of Institute of Local Government Management.
