Municipality’s commitment to Tourism

2017-10-12 06:00

UGU District Municipality’s efforts to stabilise our water systems to reinstate normal supply in the affected areas under Ray Nkonyeni Municipality has yielded positive outcomes with 95% of the water supply being restored.

Although we have managed to restore water supply in most areas such as Umtentweni, Pumula, Protea Park, Palmview, Lot 7 and Albersville, there are still isolated areas that experience intermittent water supply which are being attended as a matter of urgency.

As a caring water services authority, we are doing everything we can to ensure that this matter is resolved as quickly as possible.

We assure the community and businesses in the district that we will commit all our resources and do everything possible to bring back the credibility of the municipality and ensure that Ugu district remains a credible and recommendable tourist destination.

We have therefore devised long-term solutions to address the persistent water challenges, which will require a budget of millions for its successful execution.

The municipal manager is scheduled to meet with the KZN departments of Water and Sanitation, Corporative Governance and Traditional Affairs and Treasury to deal with the issues of funding for emergency projects that need to be implemented for uninterrupted provision of water in the district.

During this crisis, the municipality ensured that the affected communities were provided with water relief through static tanks that were placed in different communities in liaison with ward councillors.

These static tanks will remain filled in these communities until this situation reaches finality.

Also, the municipality made available a total of 24 water tankers of which 10 of them are hired that have dedicatedly serviced these areas during the crisis.

As the municipality, we would like to record our appreciation to those organisations and businesses that assisted us provide this basic right to our communities during this tough time.

Your supported is appreciated.

As a caring Water Services
Authority, we are doing everything we can to ensure that this matter is resolved as quickly as possible.
