SIX people died in an accident in Umkomaas on Sunday night. One of them was a 10-year-old girl.

Paramedics from the KZN EMS responded­ to a collision between a car and a truck which had been carrying wooden logs, on the N2 highway at Umkomaas­.

“Three people from the truck were injured.

“The driver sustained minor injuries and a woman and her child, who were occupants of the truck, sustained serious injuries and were treated at the scene before being transported to hospital,” said KZN EMS spokesperson Robert McKenzie.

Netcare 911 paramedics treated eight people in Umgababa on Sunday night after a bakkie crashed head-on with a car.

The passengers on the back of the bakkie were flung several metres with the impact.

On Friday, Netcare 911 paramedics attended to a scene in Margate where four people were injured.

It is believed that one vehicle slammed into the side of another, injuring four people.

“After the patients were examined it was found that two people sustained serious injuries while two sustained minor injuries,” said Netcare spokesperson Chris Botha. - Netcare 911.
