THE Umtamvuna Nature Reserve will hold an awareness Day on Saturday 10 December in Beacon Hill and everyone is invited.

Tea and coffee will be served at the start of the event at 8am for 8.30am.

This will be followed by walks at 8.30am, 9.30am and 10.30am, weather permitting.

There will also be a raffle draw and for those who are hungry, there will be boerewors rolls and refreshments on sale.

The event promises to be informative and will raise awareness on plants, both indigenous and alien invasive.

Various stalls with information pamphlets will be located throughout the hall on the work being done with camera traps on mammals and birds, the Red Desert, snares and animals and the work done on vultures from Oribi, which sometime stop over at Umtamvuna.

“Information on the Eco-Educational Kids Club, which has run on the first Saturday of every month for the past year, will also be advertised,” said Debbie King, chair of Honorary Officers Umtamvuna Nature Reserve.

“Honorary officers will be available to talk to the public about what an honorary officer does and why there is a need for the work we do.”

For further information contact King on 072 506 7208.
