A 71-YEAR-OLD woman was murdered on Munster Beach on Friday afternoon. The body of Dierdré Gerrtys was discovered by a man walking his dog on the beach.

SAPS spokesperson Captain Gerald Mfeka confirmed the incident, but said no arrests have been made yet.

“The witness said he saw a body lying near the beach steps and went closer. He then saw the woman was covered in blood and she had a stab wound to the neck,” said Mfeka.

He said there were also lacerations on the woman’s hands.

When Port Edward police arrived at the scene, they searched the area, but did not find anything that related to the murder.

Mfeka said investigations are ongoing. - Supplied.
