Thuthukani Preschool in Shelley Beach celebrated its third birthday on Friday.

The school, which has 11 pupils with special education needs, celebrated the day with a small function at the school.

Manager and teacher at the school Lene Schnackerberg said they could see growth in each pupil from the time they started.

“Non-verbal children are singing the Lord’s prayer. Children with severe social barriers are playing with friends and interacting with them. Children who are very hyperactive are sitting at their desk, completing tasks and getting good marks.

“Children who we never expected would ever be potty trained are no longer wearing nappies. And these are just a few examples and stories that make us very happy and thankful that Thuthukani Preschool was able to open its doors three years ago,” said Schnackenberg.
