President is a liability

2016-08-11 06:00

THE elections are over and parties are counting their losses and gains. Although there wasn’t anything dramatic on the South Coast, voters in other provinces made the biggest noise by giving more power to the DA.

As things stand, the ANC could be defeated in the 2019 national elections if they continue with their arrogance and protecting corrupt individuals.

They are losing support because President Jacob Zuma is a liability and the Nkandla debacle. His party has continued to defend him at all costs regarding corruption allegations against him. The ANC has alienated the black urban-middle class who have benefited very little from government.

Government has only concentrated on bringing free services to the lower tiers of the population, while the black urban-middle class remained neglected. This is where the DA saw a gap and spoke directly to this forgotten people.

Even when we complained about e-tolls, the failing economy and corruption, we were ignored. Instead, Zuma went around saying the DA is a white party and any black person voting for it is bringing apartheid back.

It is now apparent that the DA has more black voters than white ones, and they are voting for it partly to spite the ANC and its sheer arrogance.

It is true that there are some racist white people in the DA but South Africans want nothing more than to live in peace and harmony.
