DESPITE the fact that Childhood Cancer Month was in September, Merlewood Secondary continued to support CANSA Port Shepstone’s Childhood Cancer Awareness programmes, which took place while pupils were writing exams.

Sesethu Senene of CANSA said the school bought golden ribbons in support of the cause.

“Even after the initiative has gone past, pupils continued to show an interest in the awareness programme by buying golden ribbons that were sold to raise funds in the fight against cancer.

“We would like to thank the pupils of Merlewood Secondary for the ongoing support in the fight against this dreadful disease,” said Senene.

She said most of all they thank the teachers for taking time from their busy teaching schedules to educate and inform about the importance of knowing the signs and symptoms and how they can reduce the risk of cancer.
