Registration fee assistance available

2015-12-10 06:00

UMZUMBE Municipality invites young people, who have applied to tertiary institutions and need registration fees, to go to the municipality and ask for assistance.

Trevor Khanyile municipal spokesperson said only first-year students will be assisted with registration fees.

“The municipality offers registration assistance to students who have already registered for the first year at varsity. This is a first come, first served, offer.”

Khanyile said this rule applies only to those who have made their submissions on time.

“To qualify for assistance the prospective student should be a resident of Umzumbe Municipality, have an acceptance letter from a recognised institution, has applied for a bursary or financial aid like NSFAS or a loan, and has less than two pensions as household income,” said Khanyile.

He said a salary advice or a sworn affidavit will have to be submitted with application.

“If the prospective student has no parents and lives under supervision of a guardian he or she will be required to produce death certificates of their late parent.”

“We urge students to come to the municipality for application forms during office hours. Completed applications must be returned to the Umzumbe youth advisory no later than 29 January, 2016,” said Khanyile.

For more information, visit the municipality youth office or contact Khanyile on 039 972 0005 or 072 563 1991.

“Applications should be addressed to Mr P.L. Zama, Manager Youth Development,” said Khanyile.
