A NUMBER of accidents were reported on the South Coast roads after last week’s rainy weekend.

On Sunday, the driver of a light motor vehicle escaped injury when her vehicle crashed into the back of a truck in Margate.

On Saturday morning, two vehicles collided head-on on the R61 at the Southbroom traffic lights, with four people sustaining serious injuries. Paramedics stabilised the patients before transporting them to hospital.

Shortly after that, they were called to a second head-on crash also on the R61 near the Ramsgate off-ramp.

One of the vehicles then went through the barriers and rolled about 200 metres down an embankment. A total of nine patients were treated and transported to various hospitals.

On Friday, a number of passengers sustained injuries when a taxi rolled on the R61 near Port Edward.

All the injured people were stabilised and transported to various hospitals. It is believed that the taxi was travelling from Durban towards Bizana when the driver lost control. - Supplied.
