School holds leadership course for matrics

HIBBERDENE Academy is preparing their matric pupils for the big world.

The principal, Brian Algie, has arranged for two days of vigorous training so these young adults
have leadership skills as they enter the work force or tertiary institutions.

“The pupils have spent two
Saturdays doing an intense programme for prefect leadership that took them on a journey of self-realisation and understanding, team work, trust, motivation of both self and others, honesty, and physical and intellectual fellowship to name a few,” said Algie

The matric class of 2016 produced fine results with a 100% pass rate, six distinctions with 80% of pupils receiving­ one or more distinction.

Two pupils received bachelor degrees and three, diploma passes.

The group of five young people worked hard during the year despite many difficulties, to achieve these results, and impressively writing these exams in English which, with the exception of one, is not their home language.

“This is a great achievement which the academy is truly proud of,” he said,
