Security company and CPF deserve praise

A TURTON man, the complainant in a house-break-in case, gave Fever his side of how events unfolded.

The man, who wants to remain anonymous, said he was not happy that the story in last week’s Fever - “Two arrested in murder case” (page 2) - only sang the praises of SAPS.

“There are important facts that were not included. Eighty percent of the work which led to the arrests was done by on Ithunzi Protection Services and Mthwalume Community Policing Forum, not SAPS.”

According to the complainant, the story unfolded thus:

• The complainant’s home in Turton was broken into and his firearm was stolen. He contacted Hibberdene SAPS and reported the matter.

• The same firearm was used in a murder few weeks later where a woman, who was in a vehicle with a security guard from Ithunzi Protection Services, was shot dead.

• The woman’s family began to point fingers at the security company saying the guard was involved in the shooting.

• Ithunzi Protection Services then employed a private investigator to prove that the guard was not involved and to clear the company’s name and get rid of any further suspicions.

• When the criminals were arrested, SAPS was called to join Ithunzi during the operation.

“SAPS cannot take the credit for work it has not done. The investigating officer has not even been to my house,” he said.

“However, there are members who dealt with this case in a professional manner,” he added.

Sergeant Lubanyana (Port Shepstone SAPS),

Sergeant Eugene Blackenberg (Hibber- dene), Constables Mavundla and Naidoo (Hibberdene), Major-General Ndlovu (Port Shepstone), Colonel Memela (Hibberdene), Sergeant Mkhize (Hibberdene) and Warrant Officer Jula responded in taking finger prints.

“To top management, you need to clone more of this calibre people in your police force. Our province will be a safer place for all its communities and visitors at large.”

The complainant’s belongings were recovered last week and the perpetrators are in custody.
