Show and shine to be held for Keshivan Trust

2016-03-24 06:00

THE Nitro Crew and the Street Assassins Car Club will host a show on 26 March at the Albersville sports ground to raise funds for the Keshivan Govender Trust.

There will be a show and shine, sound-off and other family entertainment, and food stalls, dealer and shop displays and children’s activities will also feature.

The event starts at 12.30pm and continues into the night. Govender, who is nearly three years old, is in need of urgent medical treatment that would improve his condition, spastic cerebral palsy.

The four to six-week treatment will enable him to walk and improve his sensory functions.

Govender was diagnosed shortly after birth and his parents, Jason and Charmaine, were told their son will acquire international medical treatment involving stem cell treatment at Shenzhein Beike Biotechnology Co. Ltd-associated hospitals in Thailand.

“Keshivan cannot crawl or sit up on his own, he has just started to have some head control and he has to be fed as he cannot bring things to his mouth.

“He also does not follow objects with his eyes - he depends on sound to respond when someone speaks to him.

“He weighs 12kgs. We have to carry him around because he cannot walk,” said Jason.

The estimated cost of the treatment is $29 000 (R464 000), excluding travel costs and his parents have to raise the funds before June-July.

If you would like to contribute to the fund, bank details are Keshivan Govender Medical Fund, Standard Bank, account number: 053351932, Port Shepstone, branch code: 051001, email keshivangov.medicalfund@ gmail.com
