FIVE teachers from the St Martins de Porres School went on an educational trip to Kenya this month.

The trip was part of an exchange programme for deaf learning and was sponsored through funds raised by the teachers.

During their stay Kubashnee Perumal, Nelly Gambushe, Churchill Hlongwa, Sister Pauline and Peggy Shoba visited three schools to educate themselves about the prescribed international curriculum.

The five also met former United States president Barack Obama’s step-grandmother Sarah.

Shikaar Sookdavu from the school said the teachers were impressed with their trip.

“The teachers found the trip very enriching and were surprised to see Obama’s grandmother so strong and fit at 99 years of age,” said Sookdavu.
