Staying true to your New Year resolutions

2016-01-07 06:00

THE start of a new year is the time when we begin to evaluate our lives and the areas that need some improvement - we all know that New Year resolutions are difficult to keep even when you make them simple and easy.

We all have the same idea - set goals for the entire year and then plan how you are going to achieve them. This however, is easier said than done.

If you’re serious about sticking to your resolutions, then you’ll appreciate these tips. The key is to think about your resolutions and have a plan on exactly how you’re going to commit to achieving these life changes - one at a time.

There’s nothing that can hold you.

•There is no better time than the present. Stop making excuses and start making changes - which will eventually turn into habits that will have a positive effect on your life in the long run.

•Understand your limitations - do not set unrealistic goals for yourself. It’s good to try and better yourself, just remember that Rome was not built in a day.

•Instead of making a long list of everything you want to change, focus on one goal at a time. Everything does not need to happen at once, work systematically towards one before setting a new goal.

•Write down what you want to achieve, set daily reminders for yourself, and get into the right mindset. Ask a friend to check on you and the progress you have made, that way you can be held accountable.

•Believe in yourself

•The only things standing in the way of your goal is yourself and remember not to be too hard on yourself, you are human and will make mistakes. - Supplied.
