Stolen vehicles recovered

2015-12-10 06:00

MEMBERS of the Port Shepstone Public Order Police (POP) and Crime Intelligence carried out an intelligence-driven operation recently and pounced on a homestead in Nkombe Ward, Malangeni where they seized a silver Toyota Avanza, a red VW Jetta and a Toyota engine.

A case of theft of motor vehicles was registered at the Point Road police station in Durban. It is alleged that the Avanza was parked overnight in Erskine Terrace in South Beach on Tuesday evening, 17 November. It was found to be missing the following morning.

The Toyota engine was traced to a case registered in Bayview, Chatsworth. It is alleged that a gold Toyota Corolla was parked outside a temple in Grasmere Road in Silverglen on Sunday, 22 November when it was stolen. The engine number of the Jetta had been tampered with. Investigations will unravel further details on the vehicle ownership. The owner of the homestead, a 57-year-old woman, was taken in for questioning and released. Police are on the hunt for a known suspect and expect to arrest him soon. Both vehicles and the engine were impounded by police.
