A NEW South Coast Striders (SCS) executive committee was elected for 2017 at an AGM on Wednesday 18 January.

Kim Jones of SCS said there was “decent attendance” by members and new members.

“It was great to have a number of new members join and take part in the AGM.”

The new executive committee is Mark Smith (running captain), Emmanuel Mufamadi (development officer), Boet Schutte (walking captain), David Morrison-Young (admin), Kim Jones (race convenor), Freek Stander (chairman) and Louise Morrison-Young (treasurer).

The club now begins its programmes - on 1 May, the club is hosting the Hibiscus Coast Challenge, which is growing.

“This year there will be some interesting additions to the event and the club will continue to be actively involved in the development of athletes especially the youth, with some great new talent coming through in the junior section.”

“At the end of 2016 membership had grown significantly and it is hoped that this trend continues,” said Jones.

She encouraged people to go to the clubhouse every Wednesday from 5.30pm to join.

She said that 2017 licences are now available.
