WOMEN’S Day
celebrations ended in tragedy last Wednesday when a 24-year-old Esayidi TVET College student was hit by a car while crossing the road in Oslo Beach and died at the scene.

The accident happened on Marine Drive around 7.30pm. Asive Mahamba, originally from Flagstaff and was doing N5 in Human Resources.

SAPS spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid confirmed the incident. Mahamba’s cousin, Thembakazi Vimba, said she was one semester away from completing her studies. “Most of us in the family never had the chance of being educated. She was our only hope of making our lives better,” said Vimba.
