Suspect evades SAPS for over a year, arrested

2016-08-11 06:00

A MAN, who had been on the run since April 2015, was finally arrested on Saturday.

Detective Constable Thabane Dlamini arrested the 26-year-old alleged house burglar.

The man was on the wanted list for a house-breaking case which occurred on 2 April, 2015 at Tin Town, Mehlomnyama.

The owner of the house returned home that day after attending an Easter event, when he discovered his house had been broken into and several items stolen.

Investigation linked the suspect to the crime. The suspect, however, left the area.

“On Saturday, more than a year after the crime was committed, his luck ran out when Detective Constable Dlamini saw him and arrested him,” said police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.

“It is expected he will also be linked to four more house-breaking cases in the area,” she added.
