MAVESHE Community Hall in Murchison came to life on Tuesday as local aspiring dancers and actors performed in front of a professional television actor and an audience.

Bheki Mkhwane of the TV drama iSibaya was invited to watch the talented youth perform. The purpose of his visit was to scout potential actors and actresses. These youth will then attend workshops next year where Mkhwane will share his expertise.

“We approached the Department of Social Development for funding in order to make this event possible,” said Thuli Cebisa of Vukuzenzele.

“We want to get rid of social ills that are destroying the youth. We want them to focus on their talents and rather develop that instead of getting into trouble,” she said.

Cebisa said that more programmes such as these will be held in the community every quarter.
