Ugu Jazz Festival coming up

IN the vibe of celebrating a decade of existence of the Ugu Jazz Festival, this year’s event has secured performances from some of the country’s best jazz and Afro-pop legends who have been part of this music extravaganza since its inception.

Jazz patrons and Afro-pop music fanatics are encouraged to reserve the dates 25 and 26 June for the most explosive music entertainment weekend. The Ugu Jazz pre-party will be on 25 June. The venue for this event will be communicated in due course. The festival will be held at the Ugu Sports and Leisure Centre. Gates open at 10am.

The stage will be graced by Ringo Madlingozi, Sipho Hotstix Mabuse, Selaelo Selota, Solomon Willy and Madala Kunene.

Sharing the stage with these legends will be Umkhumbanze Jazz Band, the country’s new favourite in Afro-pop music, Nathi, Zahara, Zakes Bantwini, Naima Kay, Bongani Nkwanyana and Nomalanga.

This year’s event will also feature new faces such as Brian Themba, best known as Rantumeng in the TV soapie­ Muvhango, White Bread, Sbahle Mkhungo from Gamalakhe, Maleh, Lilitha Bidla, Mondli Ngcobo, Lelo Green, Africa, Bophela and Siyalithatha­. On the decks will be deejays, Siyanda, Muntu, Jikeleza, Master Blaster and Mshedys.

Tickets are R280 for general access, R350 for Golden Circle and R1 200 for VIP access.

VIP
tickets allow patrons entry to the exclusive lounge, a three-course meal, shuttle services from the VIP host venue to the event venue.

There are limited early bird tickets for general access available at R230.

Park and ride services will once again be available and patrons can park at secured designated­ areas and will be transported to the event.

To ensure the park-and-ride service­ is successful as in previous years, patrons urged to ensure compliance­ with the rules of these services.

Ugu District Municipality and Cyassound­ Holdings appreciate the response by patrons over the years, which has ensured the growth of this event while ensuring the growth of the district’s economy.
