TEN pupils from St Martins De Porres Special School on Monday received uniforms from Ugu District Mayor Cllr Ntombifikile Gumede and her special programmes department.

The pupils were identified as those who desperately need them as they come from poor homes.

Gumede said the programme has a special place in her heart as children with special needs have the right to education and deserve equal love as any other child.

“As you grow you meet people who you never imagined you would come across and it is those people who have a special place in your heart,” said Gumede

The visit is in response to a request by St Martins De Porres pupils asking her to take care of them and never forget them.

Nelly Gambushe of St Martins said the visit and the uniforms mean a lot to the school and pupils.

“Today is a very big day for these children because now they will go back to class with a smile on their face knowing they have new uniforms, just like the rest of the pupils,” said Gambushe.

Nelly gave a special thank you to Ugu Special Programmes head Dudu Ngcobo for co-ordinating the programme and for the continued support and relationship they have with the school.
