2015-11-19 06:00

UGU District Municipalitiy has asked customers to report any “unusual” water bills they have received in the past month.

The municipality says they will be doing meter audits for customers who find their water bill is higher than usual. However, the municipality says the irregular bills have nothing to do with water shortages in the district.

Municipal spokesperson France Zama said Ugu District Municipality is to undertake a meter audit programme aimed at ensuring accurate meter readings for correct customer billing.
“Any irregularities are likely to arise as a result of meter readings and subsequent corrections,” said Zama.

Zama further advised owners to allow tenants to take over the account.

The municipality does not have a stipulated period for this exercise, but customers are encouraged to bring their account queries as soon as they become aware of “irregularities”.

Ugu has promised to resolve all the queries brought to them in less than 14 working days.
