Youth invited to empowerment programme

2016-06-02 06:00

SOUTH Coast youths are invited to the second annual youth symposium at the Margate Community Hall on 16 June.

The programme will be hosted by the Save Our Youth Institute, aimed at mobilising the youth for leadership training, which will orientate young people to realise and discover their purpose in life.

Programme organiser Walter Shosanya said the training will assist in educating and empowering them on how to fight social ills.

“The programme will orientate young people against crime, drugs, alcohol abuse, teenage pregnancy hooliganism and Satanism,” said Shosanya.

He said the symposium will inform the youth on how dangerous it is to be involved in drugs and crime and other social ills, and after helping them identify the dangers, they will then be trained on how to be in control of their lives in order to keep away from social ills.

Training will be for six weeks, and is free.

“We embark on the programme in honour of Youth Day and we want the youth to come in their numbers and be part of the programme,” he said

Shosanya said the advantage of being part of the programme is that the youth will discover themselves as an individual and also build self-confidence, making them purpose-driven.

To be part of the youth symposium, contact Save Our Youth Institute on 063 118 7489 or on WhatsApp on 083 436 5828.
