EIGHTEEN Ezinqoleni youths were awarded computer skills certificates by Ezinqoleni Community Library on 18 June as the municipality commemorated Youth Day.

The youth have been attending a basic computer skills programme, run by the library during the year.

The course was offered free with the aim of encouraging them to stay away from drugs and focus on channels that will benefit them in the future.

One of the participants, Jacko Shabalala of Ward 5 eNkulu, spoke about how the course helped him get off drugs.

Shabalala admitted he had been on drugs for some time and by taking this course today he is drug-free.

“Today I am living clean life. It is possible for one to stop drugs and live a clean life. I spend my time with God because he worked in me,” said Shabalala.

At the event Cllr Mbatha encouraged the youth to stay away from drugs and focus on the programmes which make them better people.
