KwaDukuza civic body to be established

2015-11-04 06:00

THE community of KwaDukuza can look forward to having a voice through the formation of a brand new civic ratepayer’s body.

A meeting was recently called by community leaders, in an attempt to form an interim committee.

This meeting received a positive response with over 30 interested individuals in attendance.

The formation of the body was prompted by the poor condition of the town and the general deterioration of standards in the area of service delivery.

A number of speakers aired their views on matters which are of concern and it was decided that the ratepayers’ body must be established.

A seven man interim committee was formed namely: HR Mohammedy, D Moodley, M Sambiah, PR Govender, Y Nakhooda, S Pillay and C Moolla.

The interim committee will liaise with other ratepayers’ bodies with a view to draw from their experiences and explore the possibility of reviving the association that was in existence about four years ago. A key point of interest for the committee will be the proposed development of a mall and civic precinct on the existing sporting fields.

The next meeting is due to take place on Thursday, 5 November at the KwaDukuza Town Hall/Supper Room commencing at 5.30pm. Interested ratepayers are welcome to attend. A formal public launch will be held once the body is properly constituted.
