THE KwaZulu-Natal Hawks is appealing to the community to assist them in locating Sthembiso Bongani Mthethwa (pictured).

A warrant of arrest has been issued for Mthethwa (27).

On 3 September 2015, the suspect was arrested and detained at Sundumbili police station and was expected to appear at Eshowe Magistrate’s Court on charges of attempted murder and possession of illegal firearms which included an R5 rifle, AK 47 and a 9mm pistol.

On that day he escaped from police custody, and has managed to evade arrest to date.

He is allegedly linked to a number of serious crimes including murders and armed robberies in KwaDukuza, Mandeni, Umlazi and Maphumulo.

He is said to be frequently seen at the KwaMashu Hostel, Umlazi Hostel, Mandeni, Sundumbili informal settlement, Chatsworth informal settlement, Inanda area and Jacob’s Hostel.

Police are warning members of the public not to approach or try to apprehend the suspect as he is considered to be extremely dangerous.
