KWADUKUZA Darts Association (KDDA) announced a strong squad to participate in the South African Darts Championship to be held in Johannesburg from 6 to 10 July.

Vinesh Geanballey, Jerry Govender, Paddy Padayachee, Neeran Somnath, Jerry Arunachellam, Charlie Pillay and Justin Naidoo will represent KwaDukuza at the national darts tournament. Vigen Murugan has been appointed manager of the KwaDukuza outfit.

President of KwaDukuza Darts Association Jerry Govender congratulated all players selected to represent KwaDukuza at the national tournament.

“The selection process has not been an easy one with officials scrutinizing the performance of individual players over the last 12 months before announcing the squad.

“The cream of South African darts players will converge in Johannesburg for over a week to pit their darts skills against each other and it is vitally important our lads train hard over the next three weeks and raise the KDDA banner high in Gauteng.”

“Our squad boasts a wealth of seasoned and experienced campaigners who have been participating in the national tournament for a number of years and I am confident that the boys will return home with gold,” said Govender.

Meanwhile, excitement is mounting in the inaugural Hooblal’s Catering-sponsored KwaDukuza Darts Association Doubles League.

Padayachee and Ashley Harripersaad leapfrogged to the top of the log standing on Wednesday night after recording two wins and a draw from their three matches at The Quartz in Stanger Manor.

Vinesh Geanballey and Jerry Govender find themselves languishing in second spot with 18 points (35 games for and 25 against them) from 10 league matches.

Pillay and Naidoo (16 points) stayed in contention for league honours with a hard fought 4-2 win against Nine Pillay and Devan Gounden.
