ONE of South Africa’s most celebrated musicians will set the stage alight at the Sibaya iZulu Theatre on 7-9 October with a trip down rock n roll memory lane.
Steve Fataar and friends promise a night to remember with Steve Fataar’s Golden Oldies, a night of celebrating some of the greatest music of the fifties, sixties and seventies featuring hits of the Beatles, Everly Brothers, Cliff Richard and the Shadows, Elvis and many others.
Fataar will evoke nostalgia when he plays the biggest hits of The Flames, the band that took the SA music scene by storm with in the sixties, with hits like Tell it like It Is and Your Precious Love, which topped the charts in 1968. He later went on to tour the UK and U.S. with the group, sharing the stage with the Beach Boys and others. Fataar says the music of the Flames has remained close to the hearts of fans locally and abroad and he is looking forward to re-living the magic on stage again.

“There isn’t a show I play when someone doesn’t ask me to play Your Precious Love.”

While Fataar promises to play all the favourites, the show will also be an opportunity to bring to life other golden oldies that audiences have never heard him play before.

“There are going to be a few surprises, that’s for sure. The fifties and sixties were incredible decades for music and there’s just a treasure chest of beautiful songs to dig into.”

It’s going to be a night of musical memories and one definitely not to be missed.

Steve Fataar’s Golden Oldies takes place at the Sibaya iZulu Theatre on 7/8 October at 8pm and 9 October at 3pm. Tickets R120, available from Computicket and Checkers.
