LOCAL court interpreter Nzuzo Mtyawazo Jali was awarded gold as the best frontline service delivery employee of the year in South Africa at the Department of Public Service and Administration Batho Pele Excellence Awards recently.

This is the third consecutive year that Jali has been recognised for his work and the service he provides at the KwaDukuza’s Magistrate’s Court.

“I was surprised because I did not expect that I would receive the award as I was nominated with highly educated individuals, it was unbelievable,” an elated Jali said.

He said he was representing the department which he works for, the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development at the awards.

Jali said the church plays an essential role in the way which he does his work and treats other people he interacts with on a personal and professional level.

“Every Wednesday, reverend Vusi Radebe teaches us that because people are God’s creation we should love them as much as we love our ourselves and treat them with kindness and compassion,” he said.

Jali said this award is a testament to the fact that he is still on the path of working and assisting people selflessly.

“I recently helped an elderly lady with her RAF [Road Accident Fund] claim. She came to me asking for help after she had seen my name in the newspaper [Stanger Weekly]. I’m glad to inform you that her claim was a success,” he said, speaking about how he goes the extra mile.
