THE Smurfs Hiking Club trekked into mountainous Lesotho recently.

As part of the clubs social cause, dubbed “Charity in the Sky”, the team ventured throught high altitude mountain passes and deep gorges to remote villages and hamlets on steep canyons and cliffs.
With the assistance of Sani Mountain Lodge, and a local interpreter the team distributed nutritious food packs, warm clothes, books and stationery to three communities.

Speaking to the Weekly, team leader Vimal Mothilal said: “Glossy eyes, broad smiles and warm hugs greeted the team as they successfully distributed item to the young and old especially focusing on mother and child needs. Sincere thanks goes to all those families and sponsors who made donations and to God for guiding us through.”
