A 10-year-old boy was killed last Wednesday, 13 April, when he was runover by a taxi on the R102, said KZN SAPS spokesperson, major Thulani Zwane.

“It is alleged that Njabulo Majola (10) was crossing the road when he was knocked down by the vehicle. He sustained serious injuries and was declared dead at the scene,” he said.

Zwane said KwaDukuza SAPS are investigating a case of culpable homicide, however, no arrests have been made as yet.

According to IPSS Medical Rescue: “The scholar was pinned underneath the taxi after being dragged down an embankment. Upon arrival, paramedics found the 10-year-old in a critical and unstable condition.

“Advanced life support interventions were initiated before the young boy was extricated from beneath the vehicle. Shortly after he was freed from under the vehicle, the child went into cardiac arrest. Paramedics worked fervently in an attempt to resuscitate him for more than 40 minutes; sadly he succumbed to his injuries.”
Attempts to contact the child’s family were unsuccessful at the time of going to press.
