DAWNHEIGHTS Cricket Club notched up an impressive double victory in their domestic (Ilembe Cricket Union) double-header played over the weekend.

On Saturday, the Dawnheights B outfit trounced Ashrafiya by 30-runs in a Twenty-20 (B League) game played at the Gledhow Ground and on Sunday followed it up with a 161-runs annihilation of Magnum in a 50 Overs League game at the same venue.

On Saturday, Dawnheights batted first and posted 102/10 in their allotted 20-overs. Zain Hoosen top-scored with 39 runs which included three fours and a mammoth six. Ziyaad Sader was the pick of the Ashrafiya bowlers, claiming 3/21 from 4 overs.

In reply Ashrafiya posted 72/8 in their allotted 20-overs with Obed Ahmed (15) the only batsman to register double digits.

Man-of-the-match Hoosen claimed 2/11 from 3 overs. Salmaan Hoosen grabbed 2/14 from 4 overs.

Dawnheights posted 233/7 in their allotted 50-overs. Taqueer Malik (56), Suveer Maharaj (33), Santhir Bageloo (29) and Hoosen (26) were the chief contributors for Dawnheights. Sheldon Maduray was the pick of the Magnum bowlers claiming 3/44 from 9 overs.

In reply Magnum were bundled out for a paltry 72 runs. Shivaan Singh (3/49 from 7 overs) and Salmaan Mohamed (2/7 from 11 overs) were the standout bowlers for Dawnheights.

Meanwhile, Ilembe Cricket Union trounced Amanzimtoti in a KZN Challenge League game played at the Toti Oval on Sunday.

Abdullah Mahomed and Alveiro Nadasen gave the visitors a perfect start after putting on an opening partnership of 77 runs. Nadasen notched up 40-runs which included three fours before being caught at gully by Jarryd Michaux off the bowling of Ruan Du Preez in the 27th over.

Two overs later Mahomed (32) was caught at mid-on by Quinton Grobler off the bowling of Du Preez. Zulfikaar Ali notched up 26 runs which included four boundaries before being run out by James Taylor.

Comfort Shange and Ismail Mahomed added a valuable 55-runs partnership for the fourth wicket before Shange (32) was dismissed by Jacobs De Wet. Mahomed (48) fell two runs short of a half-century after being run out by former Dolphin cap Desigan Reddy.

Ilembe posted 203/6 in their allotted 50-overs. Du Preez (2/25 from 5 overs) and De Wet (2/36 from 10 overs) grabbed two wickets each for the home team.

In reply Amanzimtoti were bundled out for 136 runs in the 42nd over with Reddy (63) the only Toti batsman to offer any resistance.

Ismail Mahomed was the destroyer-in-chief for Ilembe claiming 5/16 from 10 overs. Alex Pillay (2/16 from 10 overs) and Alveiro Nadasen (2/26 from 10 overs) claimed two wickets each.
