FOR years the Seatides "haunted house" along the M4 was a landmark for those travelling along the North Coast road.
The popular house, covered in colourful graffiti was reduced to a pile of rubble on Thursday last week, after the owners received instruction to demolish the house from the eThekwini Council.
The house often awakened the curiosity of those driving along the M4 and was long known for its photographing potential.
Many would visit the house to investigate if it was actually haunted while others just wanted to hangout and take a few selfies.
The house ,owned by the Naidu family, was built by their grandfather, Gurusamy Veerasamy Naidu in 1926.
According to the family, the municipality demanded the demolition of the house as it was deemed structurally unsafe.
According to the current landowner, grandson of Gurusamy Veerasamy Naidu and Saanta Naidu Group boss, Saantha Naidu - he owns the Coastlands hotels and resorts chain - the land will be developed in the future, however nothing has yet been decided.
