THE SKF Stanger karate club held their annual awards ceremony recently.
With 2015 having been packed with training, tournaments and grading examinations the night was dedicated to celebrate the achievements of all the karatekas.
Amongst the awards presented were class of 2015, overall achiever in respective belt category, overall best Kata (form) and Kumite (sparring).
The highlight of the evening was the announcement of the overall top students for the year 2015. Monisha Naidoo and Desigan Naidoo scooped these awards.
They said: “We would like to thank Sensei Johnny Pillay and assistant instructors for the valued efforts in pushing us to achieve our full potential in the sport. It was due to hard training in and out of the dojo and self discipline. We look forward to the up coming year and we are excited to be representing our country in the world cup to be held in Cape Town.”

A total of 10 karatekas will travel to Cape Town as part of the South African Team, in August to participated in the World Cup.
