KWADUKUZA Athletic Club (KDAC) athletes notched up respectable times in the Postnet Maritzburg Marathon held in Pietermaritzburg on Sunday.

Former KDAC president, Danny Sewmungal was ecstatic after finishing his fifth Postnet Marathon to earn himself a permanent race number. He finished the grueling 42,2km race in a time of 4:56.

The race was run in overcast conditions, but the very high humidity levels took its toll on the runners. Comrades Marathon medallist, Nkosinathi Cele was the toast of the KDAC athletes finishing the 42,2km race in a splendid time of 3:17.

Others to follow him home were Nkosi Zulu (3:32), Jay Ramnath (4:25), Dippy Moodley (4:40), Thulani Zungu (4:43), Padday Padayachee (4:54), Morgan Pillay (4:55), Vijesh Mahadew (5:01) and Indran Naidoo (5:30).

Athletes who finished the 42,2 km race in less than five hours had double reasons for celebrations, including qualifying for the 2016 Comrades Marathon.

The father-and-son combination of Nikeyi Maarbeel (2:18) and Nundkumar Maarbeel (2:00) and Yathin Narothum (2:36) finished the 21,1km race.
