A MEMBER of the Ntshawini Community Policing Forum, Mbasobe Ngubane (35), was found dead in Sophia town at around 5am on Monday.

KwaDukuza SAPS spokesperson, warrant officer Johannes Khoza said Ngubane’s body was found with four bullet wounds to the back of his head and three others on his back.

He said the motive for the murder is not yet known and investigations are ongoing.

“We are appealing to anyone with information on Ngubane’s alleged murder to please come forward,” said Khoza.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the KwaDukuza SAPS on
032 551 8200.

The Umhlali SAPS would like business owners, and the general public, to be vigilant and alert following an increase in the number of business break-ins in the area.

According to the police, the suspects use a black BMW and a silver Mercedes Benz, and pose as security officers so as to easily access business premises.

The suspects’ targeted items are believed to be computers, laptop and other technological equipment.

This past weekend, one business robbery was reported and four other businesses were broken into.

It is believed the suspects used the same modus operandi of posing as security officers which then means they easily gain access to a business premises without raising suspicion or being searched by the guard on duty.

According to the police, four units were broken into at Kempton Park, in Shakashead, and items to the value of R68 000 were stolen at Imbonini Park.

At Umhlali Tiffany’s Mall a bottle store was broken into and alcohol worth R60 000 was stolen.

The above cases were all reported this past weekend.

The Umhlali SAPS urge business owners to make their contracted security companies and guards aware of this so they would be more alert and vigilant. Furthermore, business owners, and members of the community, are urged to record the serial numbers of items such as laptops, computers, cellphones and tablets so that should these be stolen police could use the serial number to track these items.
