MANDENI mayor Sphesihle Zulu introduced Lwandiswa Construction last Friday to Hlomendlini community members as the service provider that has been contracted for building a crèche, a sports field and a community hall in the area.

“This is council’s response to what the community needs as the community’s needs were expressed through the integrated development plan,” Zulu said.

The construction of the crèche, sports field and hall were delayed when differences arose between the previous service provider and the Department of Human Settlements back in 2010.

The first phase of the project will be the completion of the community hall and crèche while the second phase will focus solely on the construction of the sports field.

Zulu said it is expected that the project will last the duration of six months, with 14 August being the expected official completion date.

“A project steering committee consisting of ward 4 residents will be formed to facilitate the project,” he said.
