Mayor announces developments in Ward 6

MANDENI mayor Siphesihle Zulu announced last Wednesday at an IDP meeting that several developments which are ongoing and new projects will soon commence in Ndulinde, Ward 6.

Zulu said the Sikhonyane Housing Project is nearing completion as only 15 more houses need to be constructed to bring the total to 1000. He assured community members who did not receive houses that phase two of the project would commence soon.

He urged the community to take part in sporting activities once the renovations on the Vutha Sports Field have been completed.

“The Department of Transport is also striving to ensure that both the renovation of Vutha Bridge and the completion of road construction which was launched by the MEC for Transport and Community Safety Willies Mchunu is being considered as the first priority adding that an amount of R11 million is being allocated for such a project,” he said.

Zulu further announced that there are a number of electrification projects underway in the area with some being carried out by Eskom.

He said the number of people on the community works programme in the area would increase from 26 to 50.

The mayor also handed over a sewing machine and block making machine to small businesses operating in Ward 6.
