KWADUKUZA mayor Ricardo Mthembu has encouraged local Grade 12 pupils to work hard so as to obtain the required grades to advance their academic careers.

“KwaDukuza Municipality has partnered with the department of Water and Sanitation to [offer] opportunities that will advance the standard of education in rural communities and shape future leaders”, said Mthembu addressing Grade 11 and 12 pupils during his visit with the Department of Water and Sanitation at Nonhlevu High School.

The department is offering bursary opportunity to Grade 11 and 12 pupils who wish to pursue careers in the science industry and so far it has visited four local schools that have been adopted by KwaDukuza Municipality which are Nonhlevu Secondary School in Groutville, Chief Albert Luthuli High School in Ntshawini, Tshelenkosi Secondary School in Shakaville and Shekembula Secondary School in Doringkop.

Mthembu and KwaDukuza executive committee Sduduzo Gumede took turns in addressing four local schools on career opportunities.

The bursaries are offered to less privileged Grade 11 and 12 pupils who are willing to pursue studies at higher education institutions.
