MPs also need to economise

2017-03-29 06:03

I LISTENED to the whole Budget speech last week and a few questions came to mind.

Do the members of Parliament pay tax? Just asking, we do not know. Maybe they will fall into the “super rich bracket”. Do they fill in tax forms like the rest of the country? Just asking.

The Minister of Finance often asks for tips on how to reduce spending. Well here are a few of my own.

• The five-star restaurant at Parliament hopefully charges full fees like in the real world.

• Alcohol on the menus paid also at the full price.

The members of Parliament are there to represent us who voted for them, so one hopes they will realise they work for us.

Therefore spend our money to the value we expect.

• Flying economy class only. We all have to pull in the belt so we expect them to do the same.
